Lake Louise is one of those places that’s every bit as beautiful as people say it is. The turquoise lake, mountain views and easy access to the lakeshore make it one of the top places to visit in Banff National Park, whether it’s your first trip or your tenth. But as locals, we can tell you that getting there is not always as simple as just driving up and finding a parking spot, which is exactly why the Lake Louise shuttle is such a good option.
If you are visiting during the busy summer months or larch season in September, we highly recommend planning ahead with Lake Louise shuttle reservations. The Parks Canada shuttle leaves from the Lake Louise Park and Ride at the Lake Louise Ski Resort and takes away a lot of the stress that comes with trying to park at the lakeshore. It’s especially helpful if you want to visit Lake Louise without getting up before sunrise or spending all day circling the parking lot.
Lake Louise does have a public parking lot near the lakeshore, but it fills very early during peak season. Paid parking is in effect at Lake Louise from May long weekend to Thanksgiving Monday, from 3 am to 7 pm, and the 2026 daily parking fee is $42 per vehicle. We’ve even been turned away by Parks Canada staff before reaching the village of Lake Louise because of traffic congestion heading toward the lakes, so this is one of those times where booking the shuttle can be well worth it.
The other big benefit is that a Parks Canada shuttle reservation can also help you visit both Lake Louise and Moraine Lake in the same day using the Lake Connector shuttle. For many visitors, this is a much easier option than trying to sort out parking, timing and transportation between the two lakes on your own.
If you are still deciding between driving, taking transit, booking a tour or using the shuttle, start with our full guide on How to Get to Lake Louise. But if your main goal is to make sure you see Lake Louise with the least amount of parking stress, this guide covers everything you need to know about the Parks Canada Lake Louise shuttle, including reservations, cost, shuttle times, the Park and Ride location and local tips for making the most of your visit.

Parks Canada Lake Louise Shuttle: Quick Overview
The Parks Canada Lake Louise shuttle is the main shuttle option for most visitors who want to visit Lake Louise without dealing with the stress of finding lakeshore parking. It’s affordable, reservable, and runs from the Lake Louise Park and Ride at the Lake Louise Ski Resort to Lake Louise during the summer and the fall larch hiking season.
For most travellers, this is the easiest way to guarantee a visit to Lake Louise without needing to arrive before sunrise or hope for a spot in the paid parking lot. You’ll book a specific departure window, park at the Lake Louise Park and Ride, check in for your shuttle, then take the bus to the Lake Louise lakeshore.

One of the biggest benefits of booking the Parks Canada Lake Louise shuttle is that your ticket also includes access to the Lake Connector shuttle. This allows you to visit both Lake Louise and Moraine Lake on the same day, which is a great option if you want to see both famous lakes without booking a separate tour or trying to sort out transportation between them.
The main thing to know is that Lake Louise shuttle reservations are not something to leave until the last minute, especially if you are visiting in July, August or during larch season in September. Popular dates and morning departure windows can sell out, so we highly recommend booking your Parks Canada shuttle in advance.
Even though Lake Louise has a large parking lot, it fills very early during peak season and paid parking is expensive. As locals, we always visit Lake Louise by shuttle. The risk of not getting a parking spot is simply too great, and the shuttle is just so easy.
Keep reading for everything you need to know about the Parks Canada Lake Louise Shuttle. We also have a post on the Parks Canada Moraine Lake Shuttle.

Local Tip
If you’ve missed advanced booking, more tickets are released for each departure day. Read below for the details!
Where the Parks Canada Shuttle Leaves From
Parks Canada operates direct shuttles from the Lake Louise Park and Ride to Lake Louise Lakeshore. Visitors can park at the designated Park and Ride lot at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, check in for their reserved departure window, then take the shuttle straight to Lake Louise.
The ride from the Lake Louise Park and Ride to the lakeshore takes around 15 minutes, with no other stops along the way.

2026 Lake Louise Shuttle Dates
The Parks Canada shuttle operates to Lake Louise Lakeshore from May 15 to October 12, 2026, and to Moraine Lake from June 1 to October 12, 2026. Similarly, the Lake Connector shuttle between Lake Louise and Moraine Lake operates from June 1 to October 12, 2026.
If you are visiting Banff in May or Banff in June, you may be interested to know that Lake Louise may still be covered in ice. An ice covered Lake Louise and snow-capped mountains are still very beautiful, just in a different way, For more information, please read When do Banff Lakes Thaw.

How to Book Lake Louise Shuttle Tickets
You need a reservation for the Parks Canada Lake Louise shuttle, but not all tickets are released at once. Parks Canada releases 40% of shuttle tickets in advance, then the remaining 60% are released two days before departure.
This means it’s worth checking early, but don’t panic if your date is already sold out. You may still have another chance to book a Lake Louise shuttle reservation when the 48-hour ticket release opens.
If there is space left, you can also book last-minute spots online or by phone before your departure window. Just don’t count on buying tickets in person when you arrive. There is no guaranteed walk-up line at the Lake Louise Park and Ride, so it’s best to have your reservation sorted before you go.

Lake Louise shuttle reservations for 2026 can be made starting Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 8:00 am MDT. The shuttles to Lake Louise will operate between May 15 to October 12, 2026. You can select a one hour time block for when you want to take the shuttle to Lake Louise.
You can book a Parks Canada shuttle for either Lake Louise or Moraine Lake. Included in your reservation is a Lake Connector shuttle, allowing you to easily visit both Lake Louise and Moraine Lake in one day.
Local Tip
Always take a screenshot of your reservation or print it before you go.

Lake Louise Shuttle Cost
Booking Lake Louise shuttle tickets will cost $12.75 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for 17 children 17 years and under. This is the total cost of the return trip and includes the Lake Connector shuttle between Moraine Lake and Lake Louise.
You’ll also have to pay a $3.50 transaction fee per Lake Louise shuttle reservation (not per ticket but for the entire reservation). Your national park entrance fee is NOT included with your shuttle ticket. See more on getting your Banff Park Pass here.
Parks Canada Reservation System
The Parks Canada reservation system can take a little getting used to, so it’s worth setting up your account before Lake Louise shuttle reservations open. Don’t leave this until reservation morning, especially if you’re hoping for a popular date or an early departure time from the Lake Louise Park and Ride.
Before booking day, log in and make sure you know where to find the Lake Louise shuttle in the reservation system. Parks Canada lists the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake shuttles under the Day Use section, which isn’t always obvious the first time you use the site.

If you’re asked to sign in with a Canadian bank account, don’t worry. You can choose to create or use a GCKey instead, which is helpful for visitors who don’t bank in Canada.
On reservation day, we recommend being on your computer and logged in well before reservations open. When Parks Canada uses a waiting room, visitors who are already on the site before the launch time are given a random place in the queue once reservations open, while anyone who arrives after that goes to the back of the line.
It can feel a lot like booking popular Parks Canada campsites, so the best thing you can do is be prepared. Create your account early, know where the Lake Louise shuttle reservations are located, and have your preferred dates and departure windows ready before the booking launch.

What to do if Advance Shuttle Tickets are Sold Out
If you’ve missed advanced booking, additional Lake Louise shuttle seats are released at 8:00 am MDT, two days before departure.
Alternatively, you can use a monitoring service like Schnerp to scan for any tickets that become available! We’ve used Schnerp on several occasions and it’s been very helpful getting us our ideal dates for shuttles and campgrounds.
How the Lake Connector Shuttle Works
One of the best things about booking the Lake Louise shuttle is that your reservation also includes access to the Lake Connector shuttle. This means you can visit Lake Louise first, then take the Lake Connector to Moraine Lake without needing a separate Moraine Lake shuttle reservation.

You can only use the Lake Connector after you’ve booked a Parks Canada shuttle reservation and checked in at the Lake Louise Park and Ride. Once you’re at Lake Louise, the Lake Connector runs between Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, making it a great option if you want to see both lakes in the same day.
While you are there, you can try one of the best hikes in Moraine Lake.
Note, that if you purchased tickets for the Moraine Lake shuttle, you can also use the Lake Connector shuttle to get from Moraine Lake to Lake Louise!

Lake Louise Shuttle Times
To catch your Parks Canada Lake Louise shuttle, arrive at the Lake Louise Ski Resort Park and Ride during the one-hour departure window listed on your reservation. There is ample free parking at the Park and Ride, which makes this a much easier option than trying to find a spot at the Lake Louise lakeshore during peak season.
The Lake Louise shuttle runs every 30 minutes from the Park and Ride to Lake Louise. For most of the season, departures run from 6:30 am to 5 pm, with the last return shuttle from Lake Louise at 7:30 pm. From May 15 to 31, departures run from 8 am to 5 pm. Always confirm the current schedule when you make your Lake Louise shuttle reservation and again before your visit.
One of the best things about taking a Parks Canada shuttle to Lake Louise is that once you are there, you can stay as long as you want. This gives you ample time to enjoy the many amazing things to do at Lake Louise, including canoeing on Lake Louise or enjoying one of the incredible Lake Louise hikes!
If you also want to visit Moraine Lake, your Parks Canada shuttle ticket includes access to the Lake Connector shuttle. The Lake Connector runs every 30 minutes from 7 am to 6 pm between Lake Louise and Moraine Lake on a first-come, first-served basis. You don’t need to reserve a separate time for it, but you do need to have a valid Parks Canada shuttle reservation and check in at the Park and Ride first.

Lake Louise Park and Ride
The Parks Canada shuttles operate from the Park and Ride at the Lake Louise Ski Resort. The Park and Ride is located off Whitehorn Road, less than 5 km from Lake Louise Village. It’s an easy location to get to and there are over 2,000 free parking spots.
Directions to the Lake Louise Park and Ride
Since you are already at the Park and Ride, you should consider taking the Lake Louise Sightseeing Summer Gondola, which operates from the ski resort. The Lake Louise gondola is considered one of the best opportunities to see a grizzly bear in Banff National Park. And, as you can see from the picture below, you can enjoy some pretty epic scenery of Lake Louise and the surrounding mountains.
